Quick! Think of the most secure place you can imagine. If you're like most people, then a bank vault probably came to mind. Banks have long been associated with top of the line security, but unfortunately mobile banking has a less trusted reputation.

However, according to The Sydney Morning Herald, Australian financial institutions are using biometrics to add an extra layer of security to the potentially risky process of checking your account with your cell phone. The app would require users to scan their fingerprint and provide a password in order to log on from their phone.

Given that every fingerprint is unique, biometrics add an unhackable layer of security to these transactions. So whether you're checking your bank account or securing a data center, biometrics give you the ability to protect your most valuable assets.
