If your company controls sensitive data, you want to do everything you can to protect it – or you might find yourself in some serious financial trouble. That’s because data breaches not only rob your clients of their privacy, they can also be very costly to your company.

Recently, The Ponemon Institute released two studies they had conducted on behalf of IBM, which found that the average cost of a data breach has increased by 15 percent globally, bringing it to about $3.5 million.

The survey also found that the cost incurred for each lost or stolen record containing sensitive information increased by 9 percent, to $145. Multiply that by thousands, or millions, and well…you get the point.

Clearly, a major data breach represents no small cost to your company’s reputation and finances, which is why you simply can’t trust simple keycards to protect your data centers. Instead, install biometric security devices so you can feel confidant your company won’t fall victim to a security threat.
